| This is what it looks like on our deck, but trust us when we tell you it looks so much better at a little bistro table overlooking Lake Como! |
The Aperol Spritz is thought to have originated in the Veneto region of Italy in the 19th century. The story goes that Austrian soldiers who were stationed in the region found the local wines to be too strong, so they would add a splash of soda water to make them more palatable. Over time, the addition of Aperol, an Italian bitter aperitif, became popular, and the Aperol Spritz was born. And as they say, the rest is history!
The Aperol Spritz quickly became a favorite drink in Italy, and it has since spread all over the world. It is now one of the most popular cocktails in the world, and it is often served as an aperitif, or before-dinner drink. The Aperol Spritz is a delicious and refreshing drink that is perfect for enjoying on a hot day. It is also a relatively low-alcohol drink, making it a good choice for those who are watching their alcohol intake. If you are looking for a new cocktail to try, and you want to get into the Mediterranean vibe, the Aperol Spritz is a great option. And of course we'll have all the fixings to make Spritz's at The Villa!
Any bartender knows how to make it, but if you want to make your own, here is the recipe for the Aperol Spritz:
Ingredients:
3 parts Prosecco
1 parts Aperol
1 part soda water
1 orange slice, for garnish
Instructions:
Fill a tall glass with ice.
Add the prosecco, Aperol, and soda water.
Stir gently.
Garnish with an orange slice.
Aperol is a "bitter." And we suggest going a little lighter on the Aperol until you get used to it, and then adjust to your own taste...
Enjoy!
